Eliza Dushku Set to Star in Final Season
Eliza Dushku will be starring in the indie film Final Season, which is due to start filming this month in Iowa. The movie is about a high school baseball team in a small town in Iowa, similar to "Hoosiers" about a team who has won 19 straight State titles and must face their final season as their high school is forced to close.
Sean Astin (best known from the Lord of the Rings films, but he also directed the Angel episode Soulless) plays the coach who must inspire the team. Eliza plays Polly Hudson, an attorney who represents the state in the fight to close the school, but eventually becomes the coach's love interest.
The cast also includes Tom Arnold (from True Lies) as a baseball player's dad, veteran character actor Powers Boothe as the former coach, and Michael Angarano (Jack's son in Will & Grace) as one of the baseball players.
Eliza replaces Amy Acker, who was originally cast in the role, but bowed out due to her pregnancy.
It's directed by David Mickey Evans (The Sandlot) and written by Art D’Alessandro. Casting was done by Rosemary Weldon, who was also casting director for The Kiss.
